The CONTESA charity is registered on a number of charity websites and the main ones are listed below:
Charity Commission - The Charity Commission for England and Wales is a non-Ministerial Government Department, part of the Civil Service. The Commission is completely independent of Ministerial influence and also independent from the sector it regulates. It has a number of quasi-judicial functions where it uses powers similar to those of the High Court. The Commission is required to report on its performance to Parliament annually. CONTESA as a registered charity is required to submit full details of it’s trustees, work, accounts etc. You can read all the about the legal requirements and best practices on their website,
Bond - CONTESA is proud that it was admitted in 2009 to membership of Bond (British Overseas NGO’s). Bond was established in 1993 and now has over 350 member organisations, from large organisations with a world-wide presence to smaller, more specialist organisations working in specific regions or with specific groups of people. Bond promotes, supports, represents and, on occasion, leads the work and interests of UK international development organisations. It does this through the exchange of experience, ideas and information and, as the UK network of international development organisations, supports members to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of the sector. Bond also provides excellent learning and training programmes for charities.
Charity Portal - The Charity Portal is a searchable online database of UK charities.
Guide Star - GuideStar UK was set up in 2003 to provide, for the first time, a single, easily accessible source of detailed information about every charity and voluntary organisation in England and Wales. CONTESA details included are similar to those available on the Charity Commission website.
Everyclick - Everyclick is a technology company that has created more ways to give to all 200,000 UK charities. Everyclick users can Give as you Live, make online donations , buildfundraising pages and create fundraising groups. Currently a few CONTESA supporters use the Give as you Live facility(see the Click4CONTESA article in the September-November 2008 Newsletter) which lets you raise small amounts of funds(for free) as you search the web, shop online and trade on eBay.
