Esnat said about the Hong Kong registration of CONTESA “this is absolutely wonderful and another great step forward for CONTESA.” CONTESA’s Hong Kong registration means tax benefits and reduced bank charges for the increasing number of Hong Kong donors, streamlining donations to orphans and disadvantaged children in Zambia.
Esnat added that the CONTESA HK Chair Ms. Carolyn Hopkins is “extremely capable, enthusiastic and dedicated.”
Carolyn is a third generation, Chinese speaking Hong Kong born expatriate and has worked in the Asian textile industry, mainly Mainland China, for nearly 40 years. Carolyn met Esnat and Roger about thirty years ago in Hong Kong and they have remained firm friends ever since. Carolyn is excited to be involved with CONTESA as she has the greatest respect for Esnat and her unimpeachable character. As with CONTESA UK, all administration expenses will be met with specific administration donations. Therefore all other donations will be used 100% for the feeding programmes, educational, outreach and building development projects. Through Hong Kong we would like to add to CONTESA’s already remarkable achievements. Carolyn said “there is a tremendous amount of work to do in this sadly ignored part of the world where poverty and HIV/Aids are rampant”.
Esnat said that the other CONTESA HK based directors Nigel Sayer, Lidia Chan Wai Pik and Kelvin Avon are also extremely eager and ready to promote and develop CONTESA in Hong Kong and actively raise funds for projects and programmes for the orphans and disadvantaged children in Zambia.
Nigel Sayer is a Hong Kong born solicitor working for Stephenson Harwood’s Hong Kong office. He provides his time pro-bono for CONTESA’s legal issues such as all the initial Hong Kong registration and tax exemption, Nigel has known Roger and Esnat from the day he was born. He greatly admires Roger and Esnat’s integrity and dedication to CONTESA. Nigel believes that it is the poorest and most disaffected that require the most help. Every cent of the money you donate will go to helping these children have a chance in life. A small donation can go very far in Zambia. A thousand Hong Kong dollars can feed fifty children for a month. These statistics are very powerful and it is my pleasure to contribute to CONTESA.
Lidia Chan Wai Pik was born in Hong Kong and met Esnat in 1988. Lidia has worked as an accountant for more than twenty years and runs her own accounting business in Hong Kong. Lidia has been a CONTESA donor since its inception and has donated funds for a memorial school block at Messiah Mission. She would like to be involved with and actively support CONTESA HK. Lidia is very pleased to know that CONTESA is helping orphans and disadvantaged children with feeding them and also education.
Kelvin is Esnat and Roger’s youngest son and lives in Hong Kong with his wife, Jenny and their two year old daughter, Talia. Kelvin has been involved with CONTESA since its inception in July 2005 and was the designer of CONTESA logos and built the first CONTESA website. He has been involved in several technical aspects of the charity. Kelvin is a director of Chewatribe, a music and dance company in Hong Kong.
