The UK registered charity CONTESA (no 1109311) announced that the Chair of CONTESA Mrs Esnat Avon together with the Chair of CONTESA Hong Kong Ms Carolyn Hopkins departed on 14th April 2012 for a joint 2 week visit to CONTESA programmes and projects. CONTESA supports AIDS orphans in Zambia ‘Giving Sanctuary and Hope with Love Compassion and Respect’ through feeding, educational, skills training, outreach and health programmes and projects. The major CONTESA programmes and projects are based in Lusaka, Kabwe and Chilanga.
Esnat is accompanied by Trustee Dominic Wareham, Rev. Gwyneth Owen, the Superintendent of the Wimborne & Ringwood Methodist Circuit and Susan Taylor whilst Carolyn is accompanied by Paul Anguin, the CONTESA HK Charity Services Consultant. Miss Andella Matthews, Miss Zambia UK and a CONTESA ambassador who will be in Zambia at the same time will also meet up with the visiting group. Esnat, Carolyn and the group will visit all the CONTESA projects including the Kabwe Futures Community School, Kabwe feeding programme, Kabwe home based care programme, Chainda feeding programme, the Childrens’ Clinic at Our Lady’s Hospice, Kalingalinga as well as the Chawama Clinic CONTESA Feeding Centre for malnourished under 5’s and the Messiah Mission Community School. They will also pay a visit to Berkeley Mineral Resources who are funding the construction of security fencing at the Kabwe projects. The group will relax for a few days with some sightseeing at the Victoria Falls and Chobe Game Park, Botswana.
There will be a second CONTESA Trustee visit this year, in July led by CONTESA Vice Chair Dr. Margaret McDermott and Trustee Rosemary Stanbury. They will be accompanied by several members of the Basingstoke Girls’ Brigade and other friends and supporters.
